Enriching Our Community
At Ambong-Ambong we strive to create activities and support purpose-driven programmes in order to contribute to a long-lasting and positive impact on the environment and the community in which we operate and live in as well as the other indigenous communities in the country.
We prioritise hiring local Langkawians where we are committed to their self-development; inside and outside of Ambong–Ambong. We provide regular training sessions pertaining to skills and career development as well as a comprehensive introduction to our sustainability practices and the reasons we are behind them. Through Ambong–Ambong, we encourage them to support local fishermen, craftsmen and other producers from our communities – ensuring that we help promote their work and support their livelihoods.
Through our very own Amaala Spa, we work hand-in-hand with the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), an entity whose purpose is for the conservation, utilisation, protection and sustainable development of biodiversity in the State of Sarawak, a state in Borneo, East Malaysia. The product LitSara which forms part of Amaala’s signature Tenum experience, was developed under a pioneering project that involves and supports local indigenous communities, through the collection and extraction of essential oil under the Traditional Knowledge Documentation Programme run by the centre.
