Holistic wellness & sustainability

Ambong blog

Holistic wellness is an approach to physical, mental, and spiritual health that considers the whole person in the pursuit of health, happiness, and spiritual wellness.

At Ambong-Ambong, we follow the same approach. As a leading Langkawi resort, we are proud to provide every possibility to our guests to immerse themselves in complete relaxation, and our Amaala spa provides massage treatments in ways that are deeply rooted in local culture and tradition.

Instead of simply looking at specific issues, whether they are health complaints like a chronic or acute illness, or lifestyle issues such as diet, exercise, or weight gain, a holistic approach to wellness takes every aspect of a person’s life into account to find a place of healing, balance, and positive energy.

While staying at our resorts, either our adult-only Ambong Rainforest Retreat or the family-friendly luxury Ambong Pool Villas, you will immediately notice that every element of the experience gravitates around physical and spiritual wellness.

A significant part of physical wellness is food. Most of the dishes at Ambong-Ambong include fresh, organic ingredients sourced from our organic farm. While staying at Ambong-Ambong, you will be welcome to take a tour of our gardens and make pre-arranged visits to our farm which is located 45 mins drive away at the foothills of Gunung Raya, Langkawi’s tallest mountain. During your farm tour, you will learn how our produce is grown, furthermore, you will be invited to join a traditional cooking class. It is an immersive experience for anyone who takes food quality and healthy eating seriously.

For massage lovers, our Amaala Spa offers an extensive spa menu and high-quality treatments with wellness practices carefully designed for comfort, remaining true to a combination of traditional Malay and ancient Bornean practices. Complimentary group yoga are available twice weekly, private 1-1 yoga classes are also available at additional charge (enquire with our reservations team, advanced booking is required). If you are looking for a unique and holistic spa experience, then you will appreciate the Amaala and its lush tropical surroundings.

While relaxing and rejuvenating during your stay, you can be sure that your environmental footprint is minimal. As a leading natural resort in the Langkawi rainforest, sustainability is a core part of our philosophy. We have eliminated single-use plastic, optimised our resort operations, and currently working on reducing food imports from mainland peninsular Malaysia by prioritising locally-grown and locally-sourced produce.
